Jeep Avenger: The Electric SUV That Could Save The Iconic Brand
Jeep is one of the most well-known and loved brands in the world, but the shift to electric cars is making it one of the brands that are having the most trouble. The company's core identity is based on rugged off-road capability, adventure, and freedom, but its goods are also known for using a lot of gas and putting out a lot of CO2.
The Avenger is built on the Jeep Compass, a compact crossover that competes with cars like the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4. But unlike the Compass, which has a plug-in hybrid option, the Avenger is fully electric. It is driven by a 70 kWh battery pack that gives it a range of up to 400 km (248 miles) on the WLTP cycle.
The Avenger also has an impressive 200 kW (268 hp) of power and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, which lets it go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7 seconds. And because it can be charged quickly, it can get 80% of its power back in just 30 minutes.
But the Avenger isn't just about speed and fuel economy; it's also about keeping the Jeep brand alive. The Jeep seven-slot grille, round headlights, trapezoidal wheel arches, and tough body cladding are all on the Avenger. It also has Jeep's famous 4x4 system, which has three modes for driving: Auto, Snow, and Sand/Mud.
The Jeep Avenger electric SUV also has many high-tech features that make it safer, more comfortable, and easier to connect with other people. It has a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger, and a high-quality Alpine sound system.
The Avenger also comes with Jeep Connect, a set of services that lets drivers use an app on their phone or a smartwatch to access and handle different parts of their car. For instance, drivers can check their battery level, start or stop charging, set the temperature inside the car before they get in, lock or open their doors, find their car, and more.
The Avenger also has a number of systems that help the driver and make driving easy and safer. It has adaptive cruise control with a stop-and-go feature, lane keep assist, blind spot tracking, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, park assist with a 360-degree camera view, and more.
The Jeep Avenger is not only the company's first electric SUV, but also its first car made in Italy. Jeep's Melfi plant in Basilicata is where the Avenger is made. The plant has been updated with new tools and processes to make it possible to make electric vehicles. The plant has a capacity of 400,000 units per year and works more than 7,000 people. The Avenger should go on sale in Europe at the beginning of 2023, with prices starting at $45,000. It will come in Sport, Longitude, Limited, and Trailhawk trim levels. The Trailhawk version will be the most off-road ready. It will have a higher ground clearance, skid plates, tow hooks, hill descent control, and a different front fascia.
Jeep needs to do well with the Avenger because other companies are making electric SUVs and giving Jeep more competition. The Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Volkswagen ID.4, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Tesla Model Y are just some of the cars that the Avenger will have to fight with.
But Jeep is sure that the Avenger will appeal to both loyal fans and new customers who want an electric SUV that blends performance, efficiency, style, and capability. The Avenger is an electric Jeep, not just an electric car.
